Goyard is officially better than Hermès in the world of luxury handbag investment value.

According to Rebag’s Fifth Annual Clair Report, Goyard bags held a 104% retention rate in 2024, while Hermès now holds 100%. In other words, a Hermès bag retains its value around the retail price, but Goyard bags are slightly appreciated. Chanel and Louis Vuitton also remain top brands when it comes to value retention, holding theirs at 92% and 88%, respectively, per Rebag.

“2024 has proven to be an exciting year for the luxury resale market, with a variety of dynamic shifts influenced by the strength of brand value, emerging celebrity- and social media-influenced trends, and evolving consumer behaviors,” Rebag CEO and Founder Charles Gorra said in a press release.

Every year, the Clair Report unveils the most prominent trends in luxury resale and how consumer demand affects the market. There were some key influences in 2024, namely through celebrities and the power of social media. The “Taylor Effect” continued as items linked to her, like Louis Vuitton’s Coussin Bag, got a boost. Charli XCX's "Brat Green" also had some impact, fueling demand for accessories, taking after the neon-ish hue.

“This year’s Clair Report highlights the thriving brands and styles today and demonstrates significant potential as long-term investment opportunities. Our aim is to empower consumers with the insights they need to make informed and confident decisions in an ever-evolving market,” Gorra added.

In jewelry, the biggest brands and value holders are led by, in order, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bvlgari, Tiffany & Co., and Cartier. See the full report on Rebag for more luxury handbag and jewelry trends, which can help you decide which items are worth investing in and shopping now.
