Leighton Meester Shares Her Thoughts on 'Gossip Girl' Reboot
HBO's Gossip Girl reboot has caught the attention of original cast member Leighton Meester who recently revealed whether or not she'd return to the show.
Actress Leighton Meester, or the face behind Blair Waldorf from the original TV series Gossip Girl, recently suggested she would return to the reboot while also giving opinions on the new episodes. The original show was an absolute success, running for six seasons with much of the original core cast members remaining for the show's entire run. Like its 2021 reboot, the series follows the lives of New York City's wealthiest teens.
When asked if Meester would agree to reprise her role as Blair, the actress replied in an interview with ET Canada, "That was asked a few times today and I had said, 'I don't know, maybe.'" Although it is not a passionate "yes," fans can still hold onto the hope of Queen Blair returning to the Met steps to dominate her minions.
Moreover, Meester said she was happy with the direction of the story in the new episodes of the franchise. "I've watched the new one, I think it's really amazing. I'm happy for them, I feel like they're doing something totally new. I don't think the old characters would fit into the reboot, but I can only speak for myself, so I feel like I wouldn't fit," she reflected.
Leaving the future up in the air, the actress continued, "I'll just say I feel really good about sitting down and leaving it to the young generation, they're doing really well. So that's all I'm going to say for now, you know. You never say 'never.'" But regardless of whether or not Meester puts her Upper East Side crown to rest, she will forever be a fashion icon in the hearts of Gossip Girl fans.
