Moschino Takes Over Bryant Park with Spring/Summer 2022 Show
Moschino returned to the runway a Spring/Summer 2022 collection laced with nostalgia.
Jeremy Scott has always been known for his collections of kitschy motifs and explosive colors, but Moschino's Spring/Summer 2022 collection follows a more demure approach while still embracing the designer's singular vision.
The collection, entitled "Ladies Who Lunch," debuted on a rain-streaked runway in Bryant Park, backed by a floral display with the brand's logo carved into a fake hedge. While nature played a key element in the actual show, the collection veered towards a more garden party aesthetic.

In Scott's distinct style, models in elegant updos and beaded braided wore garments bearing cartoon figures of children's toys. New mom Gigi Hadid, who no doubt has experience with stuffed animals and building blocks, opened and closed the show. She was joined in the show by several other regular Moschino faces like Precious Lee, Cara Taylor, Jasmine Tookes, and more.
Emphasizing the collection's name, the ensembles mirrored the preppy style of the '60s—skirt suits, pastel colors, oversized sunglasses, etc. However, the designer reimagined the upscale vintage vibe with his signature dose of sex appeal with the inclusion of rising hemlines, silk bra tops, and cheeky tweed shorts.
However, the show took on a greater message beyond its obvious theme. As a designer, Scott has always moved the needle in fashion, from trends to more significant industry-wide changes. One major moment in the show was the emergence of quadriplegic model Aaron Rose Philip in a yellow skirt, jacket, and crop top with white trim. One can only hope that this act of inclusion will lead to more widespread change across the board.
