Of all the dated phrases we've heard, "diamonds are a girl's best friend" has never rang false. And whether you're married, single, or in a relationship where marriage is prospective in your future, we all love to look at the latest engagement ring trends. Though every diamond is special, and we are truly impartial to all things sparkly, there is something special about capturing the unique personality and essence of a bride-to-be in one jewel that she will keep for the rest of her life, and maybe even pass down to someone in a future generation.
This year, the dominant engagement ring trends seem to be coming in form of modern takes of tried and true classics such as halo styles and solitare diamonds, in addition to new, less traditional styles such as custom two-in-one diamond settings and twisted, two-strand bands. Whether you're looking to take a page from the past or future, these are the most popular engagement ring trends we expect to see more of this wedding season.
Halo Rings
Sometimes traditional comes back as a trend. Elegant and timeless, the vintage styled halo rings consist of a central stone, which is surrounded by smaller diamonds, creating a halo effect. This particular engagement ring trend is one that comes back into popularity so often, it's difficult to say if it has ever been out of style. Seen on Jourdan Dunn and Kate Middleton, the elaborate style assures you are getting the maxium amount of diamonds on your band while still looking tasteful and well-curated.
"Customers love the brilliance of a diamond surrounded by even more diamonds," says Lorna Haddon, Beaverbrooks head of diamonds and jewelry for Glamor UK.
Single Stones
Simple but powerful, solitaires are a style of ring that have a single diamond, being the perfect option for minimalist brides, seeking a refined look. Michele Obama and Keira Knightley are two famous names who have a solitaire style engagement ring. “This delicate and timeless touch style is not going anywhere,” says Haddon.
Two in One
One of the biggest engagement ring trends of the year is to have not one but two focal diamonds in the center setting of your band. This is usually characterized by two different cuts of diamonds. This style is a popular engagement ring trend among couples looking to create a custom piece which can be merging two family heirlooms, or other significant diamonds sentimental to the bride-to-be. Seen on the likes of Emily Ratajkowski, this trend is sure to continue to dominate our Instagram feeds come wedding season.
Twisted Rings
Referring specifically to the actual band, the twisted ring style incorporates two pieces of metal that intertwine to create the band that supports the main diamond. With the option to customize the band further with pavé diamonds, this engagement ring trend suits a bride looking to bring a personal touch to her jewelry.
