In 2021, Ella Emhoff is the new face of fashion. The political offspring and newly-signed IMG model made her mark as one to watch in the fashion world when she beguiled audiences with her impeccably styled Miu Miu coat at the recent presidential inauguration. When not at world's center stage, the 21-year-old embodies Gen-Z style: Y2K aesthetics with eco-conscious values, usually manifested through DIY creations or smaller, sustainable brands. While we wait to see where Emhoff's journey in this industry will take her, this is everything you should know about America's chicest Second Daughter.

Her Step-mom is Vice President Kamala Harris.

Emhoff is the daughter of Doug and Kerstin Emhoff and step-daughter to Vice President Kamala Harris—who she calls "Momala." She also has an older brother, Cole. She has spoken openly about growing up with three parents.

"They have good communication between the three of them," Emhoff told the New York Times in January. "They are really a unit, like a three-person parenting squad. It’s really cool."

She lives in New York City.

Currently, Emhoff is in her fourth year at Parsons School of Design in New York City studying fine arts with a specialty in textiles. She resides in the hip Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick, consistent with the quirky style she emits through her Instagram.

She was recently signed as a model by IMG.

Last week, IMG signed Emhoff as one of their newest models. The company represents some of the biggest names like Bella and Gigi Hadid, and have made several efforts as of late to scoop up emerging talent, including some TikTok stars.

She wore Miu Miu to the inauguration.

Emhoff's Miu Miu moment on Inauguration Day was almost a "coming out" for her as a Gen-Z fashionista. The houndtooth cost, embellished with golden crystals, was a major talking point for those watching the event at home. She paired the garment with a red Batsheva dress and black Loeffler Randall headband.

She knits her own clothes.

Not only does the young style star knit her own clothes, but she has also started selling some of her handmade works. Her website is currently "under construction" and not accepting commissions, but she often posts her creations on Instagram.

She does DIY tattoos.

Like fellow Gen-Z model Kaia Gerber, Emhoff started giving herself tattoos during quarantine. As of now, she has 18 (not all done by her own hand) but she has gradually progressed in her skill set.

"I've also started tattooing myself a lot," she said in an interview with Garage. "I did the classic: I did my dog's name, and I did a little flower. [Then] I recently did my first big boy: [a] salmon fish with a flower hanging out of its mouth. It's super fun. I don't think it's something I would ever want to pursue [professionally], but it's fun to just do it to yourself or do it to a friend. And if you can do it, definitely go for it."

She enjoys painting.

In addition to her knitwear and tattoo designs, Emhoff also dabbles in other visual artforms like painting. She has posted several photos on her social media accounts showcasing her work. As far as her favorite artists go, she also told Garage that she enjoys "curated shops" like Café Forgot in the East Village because "they're highlighting so many artists that I had no idea about."
