60 Years Later, the Relationship Between Christian Dior and His Muse Lives On
Maria Grazia Chiuri gives the Bar jacket an update inspired by Dior muse Mizza Bricard for Fall/Winter 2021.
One of the emblematic motifs of Dior's Fall/Winter 2021 collection? Leopard. The bold print could be found in coats and jackets topping off looks that went down the runway, printed on handbags, or decorating cinched-waist dresses reminiscent of Christian Dior's famous New Look silhouette.
Womenswear creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri also released the iconic Bar jacket in a leopard print this season, paying homage to Mizza Bricard, one of Christian Dior's muses.
While today's Bar jacket doesn't have quite the wasp-thin waist of the original, which debuted in 1947, it still manages to sculpt the shape. The leopard version features a heathered effect, which is achieved by printing the individual threads before they are woven. The jacket's buttons, too, are covered with the jacquard.

Mizza Bricard, Eternal Muse of Dior
This is not the first time that the feline grace of Madame Bricard has been honored through a Dior collection. The couturier's successors, from John Galliano to Raf Simons, have also featured leopard print on their collections as a direct nod to the creator's muse.
