The actor is starring in James Gunn's new Superman movie, set to release July 2025. His resemblance to the superhero is striking.

James Gunn's Superman is coming 2025. The movie is set to be released mid-July 2025, and fans are already buzzing over this latest take on the DC Universe classic and the newest Man of Steel.
David Corenswet will play Superman, whose character infamously doubles as nerd-by-day Clark Kent. The film's first <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhUht6vAsMY">trailer</a> debuted mid-December, offering a peak at the actor's take on the role. Corenswet&mdash;who previously starred in projects ranging from Ryan Murphy's 2020 miniseries&nbsp;Hollywood to the 2022 A24 horror film Pearl&mdash;does appear to be the spitting image of Clark Kent anytime he's photographed in a suit. (Somebody, give the casting director a raise.) Corenswet also convinced the 58-year-old-director to make some key changes to his costume.
"One of the things [Corenswet] said is that Superman wants kids to not be afraid of him. He's an alien. He's got these incredible powers. He shoots beams out of his eyes, can blow a truck over. He's this incredibly powerful, could be considered a scary individual, and he wants people to like him," Gunn <a href="https://screenrant.com/superman-movie-suit-colorful-trunks-david-corenswet-james-gunn-op-ed/">told Screenrant</a> in an interview on Corenswet's version of the character opting in to the bright red trunks. "He wants to be a symbol of hope and positivity. So he dresses like a professional wrestler, he dresses in a way that makes people unafraid of him."
