You Could Design Your Own Jacquemus Bag for a Good Cause
This week, designer Simon Porte Jacquemus announces that he will open his Paris showroom to one person for a unique workshop experience in the company of his team and himself. The lucky person will have the opportunity to design a bespoke and fully personalized Jacquemus bag, choosing its material, print, and color. The brand is known for its trendy Le Chiquito handbag that went viral for its miniature version.
The opportunity is part of Jacquemus' participation in the Fashion for Sidaction auction, which benefits the fight against AIDS. Like Jacquemus, other high fashion labels including Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Celine, Dior, Cartier, Rick Owens, Alaïa, and Hermès, are among the 40 exception lots. Offering exclusive garments that never went to market, Haute Couture accessories, and unique experiences, there are a number of priceless prizes to bid on for a beneficial cause. "We chose to focus on exceptional things, like a visit to the Hermès museum followed by lunch upstairs on the terrace—things that people don’t normally have access to,” said designer Jean Paul Gaultier, ambassador of the association.
The traditional Sidaction gala dinner, which usually closes Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, is postponed to a later date this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The auction, which is running now through January 31, is being hosted virtually on the Drouot Estimations website. Bidding on the Jacquemus bag of your dreams is open here.
