The Spring/Summer 2024 runways were full of turning points fashion trend wise from hot pants to loud luxury to lots of fringe. But the trends extend beyond garments, hair, and beauty. The runway serves as a marker for what colors to keep in mind this spring. Though each collection had its own distinguishing color palette, there still lay a variety of similar hues worth taking note of. From pale yellow to chocolate brown, here are the top color trends from the Spring/Summer 2024 runways.

Charcoal Gray

Gray is a staple for many year-round wardrobe-wise, and the darker shade of charcoal gray was prominent on the runway this season. However, brands mixed it up by incorporating the color beyond typical suiting. Fendi elevated the hue to a formal context with a halter, turtleneck midi dress while other brands opted for a unique play of cutouts. Charcoal gray is a tone that is versatile to style and easy to wear from a variety of silhouettes.

Royal Blue

Maybe it's the sea-inspired aesthetics like mermaidcore and beachcore that continue to imprint fashion enthusiasts, but designers were all over royal blue for Spring/Summer 2024. With the dominating presence of such a rich color, designers offset the hue with other shades, primarily opting to pair it with light denim blue like Loewe or an off-white trouser like Burberry

Apricot Crush

Designers have had this shade on their radar even before it was announced as the 2024 Color of the Year by Pantone, and amid the neutrals and cool tones that were rampant on the runways this season, the warm hue was a charming change of pace. Sportmax displayed the color in a sculptural column dress, while Marni designed a voluminous maxi dress with the bold tone, opting to forgo the softer nature of an apricot-esque tone.

Fifty Shades of Green

Shades of green were ever so evident on the runways this fashion month, with brands using the color in color-blocked and monochromatic moments alike. On the runway at Ferragamo, designers embraced the former, opting for a dark green leather pantsuit, while Balmain tapped into a more vibrant green, paired with an equally eye-catching pink skirt.

Dark Cherry Red

Dark red is always a sleek and sexy look, and this year, there's no question that it was the sought-after color on the runways. Gucci played into the sensuality of the tone, going for a minimalistic bra top and matching mid-slit pencil skirt, while Hermès went for a traditionally feminine, somewhat modest take, with an ankle-grazing midi dress.

Metallic Mania

Metallics were seen all over the runways, from the shiny silver Alexander McQueen look on Naomi Campbell to the liquid gold Ralph Lauren look that the iconic Christy Turlington modeled on the runway. Metallics are commonly utilized as finishing touches—this year was no exception—but designers optimized the color trend this season by using it throughout their looks, effortlessly managing to find the balance between bold and refined.

Pastel Blue

On the opposite end of the spectrum of blues dominating this season's runways lies pastel blue, a serene shade classic in the springtime. The color was interpreted in various forms, from heavier knit fabrications as seen by Fendi to lighter gauzier garments with fluid movement like Prada. Effortlessly elegant and endlessly versatile, pastel blue is the perfect pop of color to add to your wardrobe without being too bold or overbearing.

Pale Yellow

Just like other classic springtime shades like pastel blue, pale yellow made an outstanding appearance on the Spring/Summer 2024 runways. It popped up in the collections of labels like Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and Loro Piana, among many more, often taking the form of soft, silky fabrics and fluid, liquid silhouettes, emanating all the grace and elegance befitting the unique hue.

Lilac

A playful spin on the richness that purple typically possesses, lilac is making a comeback through next spring and summer. Coach tapped into the floral shade, with a youthful mini dress, worthy of a night out on the town. Rabanne, on the other hand, took a different approach, finding inspiration from the modern-day gladiator with a chainmail hooded top and lilac parachute pants. Easy to translate through different aesthetics and silhouettes, lilac is a gentle, playful pop of color to invest in for the spring and summer months.

Wedding White

As a classic neutral tone, white is a color that's not going out of style anytime soon, and designers did not hold back when incorporating stark white hues into their collections this season. Instead of opting for cream or off-white shades, brands leaned into the traditional wedding whitewithout the wedding dress of course. Take a page from Khaite and wear the color through a minimalistic blazer overcoat or keep the classic paper white shade incorporated in a dress like Valentino's figure-hugging maxi dress.

Chocolate Brown

In contrast to the many light, pastel colors seen on the Spring/Summer 2024 runways, chocolate brown has made a name for itself this season as a trendy nontraditional Spring/Summer color, thanks to brands like Loewe, Hermes, Saint Laurent, and Tom Ford. This shade of brown is the perfect color for a monochromatic moment, and is accessible through many garments, be it cargo pants, leather pieces, or a staple blazer.

Not Your Barbie Pink

Even months after its release, the Barbie movie and its influence have proved pink is a hot topic right now. Even though Barbie Pink may not have been as apparent on the runway this season, other shades of pink still reigned supreme. Bottega Veneta went for a muted hue incorporated in a voluminous midi dress while Chanel went for a tone ever so slightly more vibrant but still light, taking shape in an elegant high-low mini dress.
