Burberry announced on the 31st of October that President and Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey will exit the company after 17 years with the brand. He will step down from the board next March and provide "his full support" to Chief Executive Officer Marco Gobbetti and the team until the end of 2018.

Bailey first joined Burberry in 2001 as Design Director and was appointed Chief Executive in 2014, following the departure of Angela Ahrendts. He is credited with turning the British heritage brand into the global powerhouse it is today.

In a statement released on Burberry.com, Bailey said: "It has been the great privilege of my working life to be at Burberry, working alongside and learning from such an extraordinary group of people over the last 17 years... I am excited to pursue new creative projects but remain fully committed to the future success of this magnificent brand and to ensuring a smooth transition."
