Chloé is Mediterranean Modern for Spring 2019

The brand draws creative inspiration from "hippie modernism" for the latest collection.

Chloé, a brand which epitomizes the glamor of the Parisian woman, debuted its Spring 2019 collection at Paris Fashion Week. For this season, the house led by creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi builds upon the creative concept of a fashion nomad, ever so slightly weather-worn by the whipping winds of the Moroccan desert.

Fitting with the brand’s aesthetic ethos, the latest collection’s color story remains grounded in tried-and-true, ceramic neutral tones. Interspersed between the earthy shades are pieces utilizing design techniques like patchwork, along with bohemian-inspired prints like carpet jacquard and ikat. Citing “hippie modernism” a creative influence, in this collection Ramsay-Levi balances the eclectic and far out with fashion-forward silhouettes and modern styling.

It’s impossible to comprehensively critique a Chloé collection without considering accessories. Looser cuts on dresses, kaftans, and pants are held at the hips by knotted rope belts, complete with rich, gold hardware that has become a Chloé calling card. From layered necklaces to delicate arm and ankle bands, the polished, French brand is the master when it comes to accent jewelry that can elevate a look. Paired with the new designs, oversized fringe earrings pair with disc-like pendants around the neck to “create a sensory overload of wrapped and bias-cut layering.”

Through its latest runway show, Chloé has demonstrated and fortified an established aesthetic vision. Remaining rooted in a strong sense of the feminine, Chloé is anchored by its brand heritage for Spring 2019.
