French luxury fashion house Chloé earns B Corp certification today, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to environmental and social actions. As one of the most demanding certifications in evaluating a brand's social and environmental impact, the B Corp certification marks a new stage in Chloé's transformation towards a purpose-driven model.

The news comes just a week after Chloé's creative director Gabriela Hearst received the sustainability award from Fashion Group International's 37th Annual Night of Stars Gala. The Uruguayan designer has had a history of working towards honest luxury, having produced the first-ever carbon neutral runway show for her namesake brand's Spring/Summer 2020 collection.

"I am so honored and humbled in working towards achieving our dreams of a low impact business model in fashion," said Hearst.

Chloé’s collective journey towards a purpose-driven model began in June 2020, incorporating its mission "Women Forward. For a Fairer Future" into its corporate status and enforcing it throughout its global teams. Some of the brand's other actions have included creating a sustainability board with external experts, accelerating the transition towards lower impact materials (58 percent on the Spring/Summer 2022 collection), and launching a volunteer program that encourages employees to spend one day a year working with local NGOs.

“It is our strong belief that we need to take full accountability for the impact we have on people and planet," said CEO Riccardo Bellini. "By becoming B Corp today, we reinforce our commitment to continuously challenging ourselves to use our brand and our business as a force for good.”
