Celine's Spring/Summer 2021 Show Proves Dad Hats are Still Cool
Celine returns for Spring/Summer 2021, putting sporty chic on the radar for the season. On a racetrack-turned-runway in Monaco, models strutted inside the Stade Louis II, branded with Celine’s insignias. Walking to the beat of Princess Nokia’s “I Like Him,” Hedi Slimane’s latest collection made its debut, marked by dad hats, sneakers, and other athletic-inspired garb.
While staying loyal to its French roots, Celine matches its feminine silhouettes, tweed blazers, and pussy bow blouses with slouchy joggers and hoodies. The athletic jargon and sporty approach for the season follows Slimane’s Spring/Summer 2021 men’s collection, which also featured models on a racetrack. For both the men's and women's collections, Slimane departed from the Parisian preppy aesthetic he reinvigorated the brand with since taking the helm in 2018 in favor for a more laidback, youthful look.
This is a modal window.
The women’s lineup also introduces the new Celine Fold cropped jeans, which pairs with draped silk crop tops, sport bras, and athletic cashmere knits. To go hand-in-hand are the line of ballet flats, black low boots, and Celine hiking boots.
For the socially-distant runway show, Slimane reflects on youthful optimism, replacing the bourgeois pieces from the past few seasons with more relatable clothing for the current times. And despite the unknown, Celine still holds true to the brand’s French identity.
