Cartier’s New Traveling Pop-Up Combines High Jewelry and Hardware
When Cartier decided to take the nail, a staple of craftsmanship and manual labor, recreate it in precious metals and then twist it into a necklace, and a bracelet, and a ring, the jewelry market—and what their clients wanted—changed forever. So it only made sense that their NYFW-timed Concept within the famed Cartier Mansion was called the “Precious Garage,” exhibiting only the best of the brand’s iconic Juste un Clou and Écrou collections, each fashioned after nails and hardware nuts, respectively.
The installation features gold-wire model cars, an extensive exhibition-style remodeling of the mansion’s third floor, and of course, jewelry in a variety of precious metals and diamonds. Each of the collections turns your favorite Home Depot inventory into haute joaillerie centerfolds, with each available in a variety of golds. So whether your next nail purchase comes from the beauty shop, the auto shop, or Cartier, the ones in the little red boxes are the ones we’re lusting after.
The traveling installation is on view now in New York until September 26th and subsequentially Nashville and Seattle.
The Precious Garage at the Cartier Fifth Avenue Mansion will be open to the public from September 7th through September 26th at 653 Fifth Avenue (52nd Street entrance). Open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
