Burberry Reopens Iconic 57th Street Flagship Store in New York
The luxury retailer celebrated its new location with a cocktail event and dinner featuring Cher, Tyra Banks and other stars.
Burberry is celebrating the grand reopening of its flagship store on East 57th Street in New York, now revamped to reflect the timeless charm of British architecture and design.
To kick things off in a luxurious manner, the retail store hosted an in-store cocktail event, followed by an intimate dinner at Jean’s, hosted by Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee. The event drew high-profile attendees, including Cara Delevingne, Cher, Tyra Banks, Agyness Deyn, Caitriona Balfe, Dixie D’Amelio, Jodie Turner-Smith, Maya Jama, and Taylor Hill.
The three-floor retail space has been redesigned to immerse visitors in the aesthetics of the British Isles. It incorporates natural stone reminiscent of British limestone and railings inspired by those found on the streets of London. The store also features exquisite rugs by Burberry collaborator Tom Atton Moore and silverware crafted by David Mellor, underscoring Burberry's dedication to working with artists.
Burberry East 57th Street offers a curated collection of menswear, womenswear, and accessories from the brand’s latest Winter 2024 collection in harmony with the store's inviting atmosphere. As a tribute to Burberry’s outerwear heritage, the store proudly showcases six archival replica coats, including a 1927 cotton trench coat, a 1937 Tielocken trench coat, and a Puttee motoring coat. These historic designs stand alongside new-season trench coats and Burberry’s renowned Heritage Trench Coats, crafted in Yorkshire at the brand’s Castleford factory.
The reopening marks another milestone in Burberry’s ongoing commitment to celebrating its British heritage while providing a luxurious, contemporary shopping experience in the heart of New York City.
In addition to reopening the flagship on 57th, Burberry also announced its newest campaign, "It’s Always Burberry Weather," celebrating the brand's rich outerwear heritage.
Drawing inspiration from a slogan in the Burberry archives, the campaign emphasizes Burberry’s role as a pioneer in British outerwear. Known for outerwear that blends purpose, functionality, and adventure, Burberry’s designs have evolved from protecting explorers in extreme conditions to becoming a lasting symbol of British style.
Photographed by renowned photographer Alasdair McLellan, the campaign showcases a star-studded cast, including Barry Keoghan, Cara Delevingne, Olivia Colman, Little Simz, Eberechi Eze, Cole Palmer, and Zhang Jingyi. Each talent is captured against the backdrop of iconic British locations, from the bustling streets of London to the serene beauty of the British countryside. The campaign highlights Burberry’s enduring connection to British style and underscores its outerwear collections' versatility and timeless appeal.
With this campaign, Burberry reinforces its legacy of blending heritage with modernity, ensuring that Burberry outerwear remains an essential wardrobe staple no matter the weather.
