Brooke Shield's Daughter Wore Her Golden Globes Dress to Prom
The actress first wore the striking gown in 1998 when she was nominated for her performance in Suddenly Susan.
Brooke Shields' legacy as an actress and fashion face has lived on decades after her on-screen debut, but now, her daughter is taking up the mantle. Over the weekend, Shields celebrated her daughter Rowan's prom night by revealing that the 18-year-old wore her mother's red 1998 Golden Globes dress to the event. The two joined Rowan's friends along Museum Mile on New York City's Upper East Side neighborhood to take photos before heading off to the dance.
On Instagram, Shields wrote, “I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom ❤️."
Shields wore the strapless red gown with a matching shall to the 1998 Golden Globe Awards when she was nominated for her performance in Suddenly Susan. However, the Best Actress award instead went to Calista Flockhart for her title role in Ally McBeal.
For her 2021 adaptation of the gown, Rowan forewent the shall, and instead opted to style the look with a black Hermès bag, a corsage of white flowers, dark eye makeup, and some natural waves in her hair.
Shields shares Rowan and her other daughter Grier with her husband Chris Frenchy. The couple married in 2001 and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
