If you grew up in the 1990s, Brandy was likely a pivotal figure of your childhood. The singer, actress, and model fronted everything from teen magazines to some of the best '90s TV shows and movies.

Born in McComb, Mississippi in 1979, Brandy Norwood was raised as a normal girl. Her father Willie Ray Norwood Sr. was a music minister at a local church. As a young child, she began singing in the church choir and knew she was destined to make music her career after hearing Whitney Houston's angelic voice for the first time. When she was four years old, the whole Norwood family moved to Carson, California. It was here that she began entering talent competitions and charity shows.

By age 14, Brandy had signed to Atlantic Records and released her first album Brandy in 1994. The album was certified gold just two months after its release and went on to be triple platinum after selling over three million copies.

Not only was Brandy a music sensation, but also made a name for herself in the acting world. She starred in the hit sitcom Moesha and played Cinderella alongside her childhood hero, Houston, in the 1997 film adaptation of the fairytale.

In honor of her birthday, L'OFFICIEL takes a look at some of Brandy's most iconic fashion moments from the '90s
