What started as a family business in 1913 has now grown into a true fashion empire. The Italian company installed Miuccia Prada—the granddaughter of founder Mario Prada—at the head of the house in 1978. And since then, a firm sense of modernity and introspection has successfully taken over its catwalks. A woman ahead of her time, Ms. Prada has tackled social issues such as feminism and fair wages since since the 1980s.
