After an electrifying spell of days, Lagos Fashion Week just wrapped up in Nigeria.
This year, <a href="https://www.africanews.com/2024/10/25/afrobeats-superstar-davido-struts-the-catwalk-at-lagos-fashion-week/">over 60 designers participated</a> in the event, with labels like Lagos Space Programme, Hertunba, and Iremitide showing collections on the catwalk. It brought out the best and brightest talents in Nigerian fashion, offering offering creatives a chance to showcase their talents and style mavens an opportunity to support the industry. Davido, the singer known for <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/davido-afrobeats-grammy-nominations-1234961472/">helping boost Afrobeats</a> to its current global status, made an appearance, strolling down the runway <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DBlfpTcoTD8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link">at Ugo Monye</a>.
Runways boasted vivacious colors and prints, in addition to a focus on handmade crafts and voluminous fabrics. For example, Iamisigo showed carefully knitted bikini sets, made with thigh-high knitted socks to match. K&iacute;l&egrave;nt&aacute;r showed the aesthetic power of combining textures, mixing halter neck top made of what appears to be paillettes with a fringed maxi skirt. Designers like Awa Meite embellished their looks with traditional fabrics,&nbsp;
Lagos Fashion Week, which started in 2011, offers a buzzy space for African designers to reveal their work on an annual basis. It brings together designers, buyers, photographers, and stylists in addition to customers. Lagos Fashion Week also offers workshops and roundtables, offering designers resources to continue expanding their brand in addition to hosting critical discussions on topics like expanding U.S. access to African fashion.&nbsp;
