Whether you only tuned in to see The Weeknd's tradition-breaking Super Bowl Halftime Show performance or watch the star-studded commercials, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucannneers' win marked a series of historic moments: the first female coaches to win a championship football game, the first team to win a Super Bowl at home, and Brady earning the title of most winningest player in NFL with a seventh championship ring—more than any single franchise. However, when the clock wasn't running, a number of major fashion moments occured off—and, technically, on—the field.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd, born Abel Tasfaye, sent shockwaves across America with a performance of his chart-topping hits in a crystal-encrusted red jacket from Givenchy. Creative Director Matthew Williams said of the suit, "It’s truly an honor to have dressed The Weeknd for his incredible Super Bowl show. To me, fashion is all about infusing what you wear with a unique personality, and The Weeknd brought his look to life with his energy, character, and sense of style.”

The "Blinding Lights" singer precessed onto the field mid-performance with scores of bandaged dancers, modeling his own look from the 2020 American Music Awards. The odd style references and continues the story of his After Hours album, as seen in his "Save Your Tears" music video. The Canadian performer told Variety, "The significance of the entire head bandages is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated."

Prior to the game, breakout star of President Joe Biden's inauguration Amanda Gorman recited an original poem, “Chorus of the Captains," during the event's pre-show broadcast. She wore a baby blue suit dress, trimmed with pearl and jewel embellishments, courtesy of Moschino's Spring/Summer 2021 collection. NFL commissioner Roger Gooddell called on the National Youth Poet Laureate to perform before the big game after Gorman's moving recitation of her piece, "The Hills We Climb," at last month's presidential inauguration.

Before kickoff, singer H.E.R. rocked Raymond James Studium with an electrifying rendition of "America the Beautiful" in a leather and denim jacket from Stinson Haus featuring an array of sparkling embellishments and studded details. She paired the emsemble with mesh top, black bra, flared jeans, and a reflective pair of dark sunglasses.

Jazmine Sullivan joined country singer Eric Church for a duet of the National Anthem. Sullivan donned a white Area suit with a chain headpiece, an homage to the late Whitney Houston. The outfit references a look from Houston's film The Bodyguard.
