Katie Holmes Embodies Clasically Chic French Style in A.P.C Collaboration
Katie Holmes launched a collaboration with beloved French brand A.P.C. characterized by a smart, sophisticated Paris meets New York look.
Actress Katie Holmes began her story with A.P.C. when she picked up her first piece from the classically chic French brand in the '90s. 30 years later, she has collaborated with the label on a capsule collection that reflects traces of her style, her personal history with clothing, and her connection to A.P.C.'s core values.
“A.P.C. is a beautiful French brand and one that I have loved since I discovered it. The simplicity of design is born out of sophisticated consistency to details and form. A.P.C. is not only elegant in life, but I have also used it many times for costumes in film as its classic design is timeless”, Holmes said.
Holmes, who has emerged as a sartorial icon—especially when casually walking the streets of New York City—integrated her passion for style made simple, as seen in the timeless silhouettes of the collection. Denim, oversized button-down shirts, traditional French chore coats, and vintage-inspired blouses all appear as garments straight out of French fashion publications of decades past.
“I love vintage and truly enjoyed stepping into the memories of A.P.C. garments of the past,” the actress said. “Bringing the inspiration from collections from the early 2000s and working to make them modern and relevant to the 2024 customer was such a joyful and satisfying experience," she continued.
Aside from the A-line miniskirts, straight-leg denim pants, and flowy white blouses, the capsule collection also includes a 100% cotton quilt, inspired by Holmes' mother. The Kathleen quilt, handcrafted from pale green, pastel pink, and periwinkle blue fabrics, embodies Holmes' intention behind the capsule collection created in collaboration with A.P.C., as it shares her personal history and close relationship with her mother and pays homage to aesthetics and crafting techniques of both the United States and France. “The thread of generations that live within each of us,” she said, explaining the purpose behind including the piece in the collection. “Vintage inspiring modern. Honoring our past. Tradition.”
