Alexander McQueen’s Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 Collection Sparkles like the Stars

The collection offers an interesting take between light and dark garments.

For the Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Alexander McQueen Creative Director Sarah Burton turned her gaze upward to the night sky and cosmos for inspiration.

The 29-item collection was revealed Friday, featuring a color palette similar to what we see in the sky—rich blacks, bright whites, muted purples, and sparkling silvers.

The British label focused heavily on clean, sleek silhouettes with both single and double-breasted blazers and a multitude of cigarette and wide-leg trousers. Leather also appeared to be a common theme throughout the collection, with garments in both black and white leather, including items like harnesses and belts.

According to Alexander McQueen's official Instagram account, the silhouettes focused on “Science and structure, the dissection of tailoring, deconstructed and reconstructed.”

The stars in the night sky also made an appearance through sparkling crystals embroidered in the shapes of stars and heavenly bodies on various suit jackets and pants. Two looks also made use of a metallic stamped logo print to give the collection an extra element of shine. Other notable aesthetic elements? Pops of pink and dark-wash denim.

Additionally, cotton garments were popular throughout the collection, presenting an interesting juxtaposition between the light items and the dark, heavy items, like leather. Additionally, the boxier, heavier items, like the cable knits and various bomber jackets will serve as the perfect transition from warm summer temperatures to the cooler months that follow.
