Fall in Love with Acne Studios's Dance-Inspired Campaign
It’s always special when various art forms collide, and that’s why we’re so excited about the launch of Acne Studios Spring 2019 women’s collection, which is heavily influenced by ballet. Johnny Johansen, the brand’s creative director stated he “was interested in how dancers wear clothes both to enhance their movement and to express character,” and we’re interested too; it’s about time fashion met function. The collection includes seamlessly constructed knit bodies, crepe slip dresses, and voluminous separates. The garments are designed for both practical use and expression and feature slim blazers, a long linen trench coat, and even a tuxedo. The looks presented in the runway show featured combinations of jersey and leather, while some garments donned graphics from ballet posters and drawings from grand opera houses and Swan Lake, yet the excitement doesn’t stop there.
In celebration of the collection, which launches in stores worldwide today, Acne commissioned Ukrainian ballerina and model Sonya Mohova to create four self-shot clips representing a dancer’s life while sporting some of the collection’s key pieces. The clips paint an intimate portrait of her and her world, as she dances from rehearsal to performance and from being off-duty to a night out. Her artistic interpretations of these acts are a great example of how the collection allows room to breathe and move while complimenting the body and looking très chic.
