Valentino Returns to Its Roots for Men's Spring/Summer 2024
After a three-year hiatus from menswear, the fashion house returns to Milan for the Spring/Summer 2024 show.
In 1985, Mr. Valentino Garavani unveiled his menswear collection where the debut collection was presented in Milan. Thirty-eight years later, Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli pays homage to Valentino's legacy by not only returning to Milan but presenting the Men's Spring/Summer 2024 collection at the same venue — the Università degli Studi di Milano Statale.
Doing what he does best, Piccioli seamlessly merged masculinity and femininity as traditional masculine silhouettes such as fitted blazers and tailored trouser pants found themselves embellished with various floral motifs. Bursts of unexpected colorways elevated the collection, as opening looks began with white and black, and immediately progressed into vibrant hues such as royal blue, fiery red, and its signature PP Pink. It was a harmonious mix of formal and casual wear, as short suits appropriate for the modern-day businessman stood alongside oversized tees and trousers befitting for a quick run to the grocery store.
Aptly titled "Valentino: The Narratives," the mix of transitions greater reflects Piccioli's telling of the many sides to the Maison, all equally luxurious and effortless. Truth be told, it was hard not to have your attention drawn from the runway as British singer Labrinth put on a mesmerizing performance as models walked by.
