The Elusive Sensuality of Paco Rabanne's Fall/Winter 2022 Collection

Paco Rabanne continues to astonish audiences every season as each new collection explores new sides of the Maison. The brand's Fall/Winter 2022 collection amazed for its ability to transport its spectators on an otherworldly journey. Future, past, present intersected each other, giving life to figures drawn from the near future or a distant land. On the catwalk, there were dresses that smell of party, dance, and youth. Naked navels, balloon skirts, silver dresses, mohair bustiers, and much more are on display.

Amidst the start of the Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture shows, Paco Rabanne celebrated the luxury of ready-to-wear, reminding us that dressing can be beautiful, fun, sensual every day. By deconstructing the rules of volumes and textures, the Fall/Winter 2022 collection is modeled around the body, giving it the pleasure of discovering itself in a new and unusual way. The visual impact is fundamental, designer Julien Dossena also plays with the background, in a futuristic atmosphere the models parade (or rather float) between plays of light and spatial allure. Each look is perfectly structured to play with lengths and constructions reminiscent of the '90s, but at the same time projecting towards the future: women are real (and virtual) heroines of the 2.0 world.

Contrasts are the real protagonists. Expected or unexpected, such as bodices on hyper-feminine dresses, exaggerated sleeves, or balloon shoulder straps. They convey provocation, sensuality, femininity, love, play. There are spotted sweaters that meet with sequins, opaque and shiny shades colliding to create a perfect harmonious union. The shades blend with the environment (a small note goes to pastel colors, usually too romantic here, transformed into perfect companions for city adventures). Fitted silhouettes challenge disproportionate flounces. The famous metallic sweaters, a signature of the Maison, are combined with rich handcrafted embroideries. The collection is a perfect collage of everything the brand represents and everything it will represent. The stylistic codes of ready-to-wear blend with those of couture. Femininity and sensuality tease each other. The Maison enchants the Parisian public and Dossena comes out the winner.
