Nanushka Returns to New York Fashion Week
Focused on intricate details and craftsmanship, Nanuska brought new-found elegance to NYFW.
After a six-year hiatus, Nanushka’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection has arrived. Commemorating the brand's 20th anniversary is a significant milestone in its journey from a burgeoning design house to a revered name in the fashion world.
Sandra Sandor, founder and creative director of Nanushka, draws on two decades of experience. She reflects on her design process and highlights the human touch that has become the brand's signature.
With a firm emphasis on craftsmanship and fabric manipulation, the collection stands as an ode to the intricate details of garment creation. Paper cutting and manipulation play a key role in shaping the designs, underscoring Nanushka’s ethos of honoring human handiwork and artisanal techniques.
The balance of proportion, texture, and storytelling remains central to this collection, with innovative techniques such as fabric looping and 3D cutouts pushing the boundaries of design. A 3D effect is prominently featured in a halter top and mini skirt set, where layering is critical in function and fashion. "Okobor," the brand’s signature alternative leather fabric, also returns, prominently featured in new silhouettes, such as a striking pajama set accented with metallic details and a refreshed twist on the Alt-Nappa belt.
