Max Mara Presents a Wardrobe for the Female 007
For Max Mara's Spring 2020 collection, creative director Ian Griffiths crafted the perfect wardrobe for the female 007: confident, classy, and fashionable. The designer presented several variations of the powerful female Bond: pieces that mixed and matched included suit pants and their Bermuda short counterpart, long skirts, duster coats, trench coats, and fluid dresses which slide over the body. The pockets, which come in all sizes, were an unexpected but welcome plus, showing up everywhere on shirts, outerwear, and skirts. I mean, how many times have you noticed the utter dearth of pockets in womenswear, despite clear interest and brands like Valentino showing how chic can they be? Thank you, Max Mara.
The stars of this female spy show the world didn't know it needed were top-notch, including the likes of Kaia Gerber, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, and Doutzen Kroes. All are having a major fashion month as always as they open and close shows, bring performance back to the runway, and show off new beauty looks, and bringing them all together to reimagine the classic adventurous character was a pop-cultural moment indeed. Getting all of these models ready for their stylish missions, of course, were knee-high stockings, sexy but austere alongside the heels that complete the looks as fundamental allies. Brimmed hats and oversized sunglasses were also essentials for the perfect one-minute disguise.
For Spring 2020, Griffiths embraced a sophisticated color palette typical in bespoke fashion, centering on pearl gray and pastels as well as deeper shades like tobacco and black. With looks like these, a female superspy can turn heads without blowing her cover.
