Joyful Prints and Color Create Modern Minimalism at Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2021
Jil Sander, which now belongs to Renzo Rosso's OTB Group (the parent company of Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni, and Viktor & Rolf), showed its first collection under the new ownership. The acquisition, which was announced last Friday, was the fulfillment of an old dream, according to the businessman. The brand, first founded by German designer Jil Sander has always been known for its minimalist aesthetic, which remains the label's strong point.
Now headed by design duo Lucie and Luke Meier, who have been co-creative directors since 2017, the Fall/Winter 2021 collection shows a more fun touch, without giving up the brand's signature sophistication. The Meiers believe that fashion can contribute to women's empowerment and bring optimism to our lives, which is reflected by the collection's immaculate tailoring combined with an extravagant pearl necklace or an embroidered dress inspired by the Bauhaus movement. The cheerful color palette of the collection reinforces the mood, giving it an ease and lightness.
