Homme Plisse Issey Miyake Men's Spring/Summer 2025 Collection Taps Whimsical Inspirations
Freedom of shapes, vitality, and plenty of wind. Issey Miyake presented a powerful Men's Spring/Summer 2025 collection during Paris Fashion Week.
Titled "Up, Up, and Away," the Homme Plissé Issey Miyake Men's Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show was based on clothing's ability to take on new shapes at the whim of the wind. The creative studio, known for exploring and advancing the pleating technique from collection to collection, has just done so yet again with an ultra-chic tribute to wind itself in a new collection during Men's Paris Fashion Week.
The silhouettes and shapes of the collection began with the “Kite” series, which is inspired by the concept of kites and the many forms they take. These are highly modifiable garments, thanks to an extensive study on buttons, and they can bloom in the wind quite differently depending on which buttons are fastened. The series constantly flows in the breeze and provides an infinite assortment of silhouettes, all contained within one garment.
Taking the theme of windpower even further, the label chose the most wind-reliant object there is—the parachute—and morphed it into clothing. The brand’s "Parachute" series features strategic openings that allow the wind to inflate large volumes of lightweight, pleated fabric that is fixed to the wearer by twin harnesses. The result? A large, rounded silhouette that exudes laid-back energy and would no doubt be an exciting wear for a trip to any windy city.
The “Windswept Shirt” series used hand-pleated fabric for a wavy look that was enhanced by an unusual pleated necktie that added visual contrast and endless intrigue to the style.
Issey Miyake also presented the colorful new “Windswept Plaid” summer prints. The capes glide with slits that give the arms a full range of motion, layered on top of utilitarian jackets, trousers, and parkas that release in flight, animated both by human movement and wind. The linear patterns vary unpredictably in size and color for an eye-catching, singular look that pairs beautifully with Issey Miyake’s selection of pleated accessories.
The collection is an invitation to let yourself be carried–or at the very least, be inspired–by the wind. A collection in which bodies can free themselves from the constriction of garments, and experience movement with dynamism and confidence.
