Fendace: Fendi and Versace Collaborate on Runway Collection
It's called Fendace—Versace by Fendi and Fendi by Versace. It's not a collaboration, but a union of the two great Houses to celebrate Italian fashion.
For the first time in the history of fashion, two Italian Maisons have come together to present a show that reflects, with balance, the badges of Versace by Fendi - Fendi by Versace. Fendace is breaking the mold, unhinging the rules, and freeing preconceptions with fun and virtuosity. The "party lines" of the respective brands are crossed with full professional respect, and for the first time, Donatella Versace and Silvia Venturini Fendi leave their respective family creative offices to inspire each other. The contemporary vision of Kim Jones, current Creative Director of Fendi Couture and Womenswear, a skilled visionary in interpreting the heritage of the brands, unites the Maisons. Two realities merge by sharing archives with confidence for a crossover that highlights the stylistic and cultural DNA of both.
"Friends, idols, mentors ... That's the beauty of union." -Kim Jones
Versace by Fendi is inspired by the second half of the nineties, a golden age for the brand founded by Gianni Versace, and is revised with the contemporary lexicon of the Fendi family. Versace's Medusa meets La Greca built with Fendi's FF monogram. On the contrary, Fendi by Versace is built with Donatella's punk rock point of view, safety pins, and metal mesh dresses that combine with lace and the Maison Romana logo.
It is the first time in the history of fashion: two designers who have a real creative dialogue that comes from respect and friendship. It led us to switch roles to create these two collections."
-Donatella Versace, Versace Creative Director
A cast of top models took part in the Fendace fashion show presented in the historic Palazzo Versace on Via Gesù in Milan: Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Kristen McMenamy, Vittoria Ceretti, Kirsten Owen, Karen Elson, Emily Ratajkowski, Mariacarla Boscono, Gigi Hadid, Lila Moss, Shalom Harlow, and many more.
