The nearly two-year-long fashion week hiatus brought about a generation of stylishly dressed trendsetters for this year's Spring/Summer 2022 New York Fashion Week giving life to the post-pandemic streets of New York in buoyant and daring outfits. The dark days of isolation are coming to an end, and New Yorkers are donned in bright-eyed pieces encapsulating the resurgence of the infamous Y2K era and giving a new definition to fashion liberation as we know it. From Telfar to Tom Ford, Moschino to Michael Kors, what makes New York Fashion Week one of the most exhilarating events in fashion is the display of New York City-style both on and off the runway.

The exuberance of this season's NYFW street style presented itself with a few key trends unique from fashion week of years past: colorful crystal-embellished masks and eccentric print on print co-ords illustrative to the excitement that prevailed over lockdown days. In 2020, designer labels such as Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung adapted to the digitized world of fashion broadcasting with virtual shows that allowed only a handful of guests into the event, most of which were a selected group of fashion correspondents for major publications. Though the Spring/Summer 2022 NYFW shows are much smaller than pre-pandemic affairs, with mandates that require mask-wearing throughout the duration of indoor shows, N.Y.C. fashion insiders showcased their undeniable excitement as they were decked out on the streets of SoHo and Chelsea well and energized for the fashionable festivities of the week.
