It wasn't the '90s without Pamela Anderson

The model and actress became one of Hollywood's most well-known bombshells throughout the decade, long before the likes of Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox. Her influence has remained heavy in modern pop culture, especially with the resurgence of fashion and beauty aesthetics from the '90s and early 2000s.

From whale tails to low-rise jeans to baby tees, the cool, laidback, subtly sleazy styles from the two decades have continued to have a chokehold on Gen Z and young Millennials, so it should come as no surprise that many have looked back at young Anderson's fashion and beauty looks for inspiration.

With her voluminous blonde hair, mid-riff baring tops, and figure-hugging dresses, Anderson has most definitely made the Pinterest mood board for many fashion enthusiasts. But it was her signature '90s beauty look that really sparked a flame, influencing the masses to recreate the makeup look on themselves. No matter where she was, Anderson always sported thin, skinny brows, dark, smoky eyes, and an ultra-pouty lip.

Now, Anderson has finally revealed the secret to her iconic beauty moment. In a recent interview with Elle, Anderson describes her aesthetic as "wild and uninhibited."

"I don’t know if it was a defense mechanism or what,” she said. "I just thought, 'I’m going to have fun.'"

As for how she accomplished her beauty look? She wore "the makeup from the day before, and a little bit of glitter from two nights before."

"The stuff that never leaves you!," she joked. "I’d be volunteering at the kids’ school, and I would catch myself in a reflection, and I’d have glitter all over my face. Which doesn’t make you a bad mom, just because you’re covered in glitter."

Anderson also briefly speaks on her '90s fashion moments, especially her crochet looks.

"I don’t even know how they stayed on, but they did," she said. "I remember Tommy [Lee] and I would just be like, ‘What can we wear that’s fun and crazy?’ I remember going to the Oscars in a jean miniskirt, with a D-Pimp necklace and tied shirt, next to Elizabeth Hurley, in this long Versace gown."

She continued, "Now, it’s all so calculated. And these are the looks that we’re inspired by now, because we lack that. We want that uniqueness. I never thought that those looks we threw together would be on mood boards."

While her style and beauty moments have claimed an eternal place in the fashion world and mainstream pop culture, Anderson has now taken a more stripped-back approach, opting for a makeup-free look.

She chose this route following the death of her go-to makeup artist, Alexis Vogel. "She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup," she said.

She added though, that this change has been “freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too."

"I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older," she said. "And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, 'Wow, this is really...what’s happening to me?' It’s a journey...I feel rooted for. I feel good. I’m in a good place."
