Linda Evangelista Reveals Cosmetic Procedure Ended Her Career
Linda Evangelista was one of the leading supermodels of the '80s and '90s alongside big names like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. Together, they were in the castings of the main fashion shows that marked the decades, such as Chanel and Versace—the model, by the way, was one of the great muses of Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace.
With the resumption of her colleagues' careers in recent years, many fans have asked why Evangelista did not do the same. Now, the 56-year-old supermodel has made a terrible revelation that it was an unsuccessful cosmetic procedure that ended her career. The Canadian shared a painful testimony about her current condition on Instagram.
In a written statement on social media, Evangelista wrote, "To my followers who have wondered why I have not been working while my peers’ careers have been thriving, the reason is that I was brutally disfigured by Zeltiq’s CoolSculpting procedure which did the opposite of what it promised. It increased, not decreased, my fat cells and left me permanently deformed even after undergoing two painful, unsuccessful, corrective surgeries. I was left, as the media described it, 'unrecognizable.'
"I have developed Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia or PAH, a risk of which I was not made aware before I had the procedures. PAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, it has also sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing. In the process, I have become a recluse. With this lawsuit, I am moving forward to rid myself of my shame, and going public with my story. I'm so tired of living like this. I would like to walk out my door with head held high, despite not looking like myself any longer."
