Kylie Minogue Unveils New Makeup Line Following Copyright Battle With Kylie Jenner
The makeup world is big enough for two Kylies, apparently. Following a copyright battle with Kylie Jenner over the rights to the name “Kylie,” gay icon and pop artist Kylie Minogue has launched her own makeup line KYLIE to rival Kylie Cosmetics.
The line dropped on Minogue’s website in tandem with the promotion of her upcoming album, Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection. Although Kylie Cosmetics has dominated the lip gloss market, KYLIE’s lip oil, gloss, and “lip-to-cheek” rouge may literally give the “secondary reality personality” a run for her money. The makeup line also features three different shades of electric eyeshadow and “eye-to-cheek” glitter in shimmering gold. KYLIE’s packaging is bright, colorful, and kitsch compared to Kylie Cosmetics’ subdued plums and neutrals. The full array is available on her merchandise page, Kontraband.
Despite what may seem like a pointed retort, Kylie Minogue has maintained that the legal battle was “nothing personal,” and that she has no beef with the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
“I’ve never met Kylie Jenner. I’ve never met any member of the family – actually, I’ve met Kendall just in passing at a fashion event – but I honestly don’t know them,” Minogue told Rolling Stone. “It’s awkward because fans get so loyal and vocal, and we love that! But it was nothing personal at all, I’m at pains to say.”
Regardless of what you think of the two celebrities, if you’re looking for glitter, KYLIE has you covered.
