First thing's first: Dr. Rubin suggests swapping out lighter gel or lotion moisturizers that are good for summer and trying thicker creams and balms.&nbsp;
"The best way to combat dry skin in the winter is to ensure you are using skin barrier-supportive skincare," Dr. Rubin explains. "This includes a gentle (cream or oil) cleanser that doesn't strip the skin, a treatment or serum is hyaluronic acid for hydration, and a moisturizing cream."
Dr. Rubin suggests looking for moisturizers with specific ingredients like glycerin, squalane, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid, as they hydrate and condition the skin. However, avoid harsher ingredients like retinol, glycolic acid, and L-ascorbic acid. Want to add even more moisture? Try a facial oil to seal in that moisture as a last step in your nighttime skincare. Dr. Rubin also reminds us to sleep with a humidifier nearby.&nbsp;
