Hermès To Launch New Beauty Range By 2020
Parisian luxury label, Hermès is said to be investing in new sources of growth, this time in the area of beauty. The brand is predicted to accelerate into the beauty sector by 2020, curating a new and enchanting experience for its exclusive admirers. The project is now taking shape and is predicted to launch by 2020. Present since 1930, the house plans to ultimately reach a wide-spread presence across four major markets: cosmetics, perfume, makeup, and personal care products. This would give us a sufficient presence in the distribution," said Axel Dumas, the group's manager, in an interview with Le Monde last April. We can, therefore, imagine the launch of make-up and cosmetic products by 2020. Confirmation of the project took place in Rome by Executive Vice President of manufacturing division & equity investments at Hermès, Guillaume de Seyne at the Hermès Hors les Murs à Lyon exhibition event.
The brand’s perfume line represents 5% of the total turnover of the group. In 2017, its sales amounted to 288 million euros, and are expected to reach 300 million for 2018, up 9% at constant exchange rates compared to 2017. Jean-Claude Ellena joined the company as exclusive perfumer from 2004 to 2016 before passing the torch to Christine Nagel who is today "exclusive perfumer, director of the creation and the olfactory patrimony of Hermès Parfum".
