"My beauty resolutions for the new year are all time based. As we’ve all collectively witnessed this year, time seems to be moving differently. Having been forced to really slow down made me fully reevaluate the areas in my life I’m rushing through and how to better use time management skills. Skincare used to be a lovely self-care moment that I would relish but slowly, rushed night after rushed night, I’d lost the emotional connection to it. I was moving so fast I wasn’t even getting the true benefits out of the products ingredients nor truly caring for or thoroughly cleansing my skin. In the new year, slowing down and taking better care of my skin which in turn boosts my mental health will be a huge priority." –Tasha Reiko Brown, Chanel Makeup Artist and Groomer
"My personal resolution for 2021 is to incorporate lymphatic drainage massage into my weekly routine. I have spent my whole career trying to teach people that your skin is a reflection of your routine in life. Exercise, diet, sleep, and skincare all play a part of what we see in the mirror. [Lymphatic drainage treatments] are great for reducing water weight, reducing inflammation and bringing a glow to the skin." –Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist, founder of Joanna Vargas Salons and Skin Care, and author of Glow From Within
"The change of lifestyle to working from home much more in 2020 has really given me an insight into how much my skin, hair, and lashes can benefit from being given a break. By that I don't mean leaving it alone, but rather actually taking good care of skin and hair every day, not wearing makeup sometimes and not heat styling my hair, too–all these things have made a notable difference to [their] general feeling and health. I want to keep those benefits in 2021, so I am aiming to [go] at least one day a week make-up free, utilizing those days to really treat my skin to the skincare and self-care that it deserves with masks and nourishing serums. A beauty resolution that involves more pampering and self love is always a winner in my eyes." –Nikki Wolff, Dior Makeup celebrity makeup artist
"In 2021, I would like to commit to staying hydrated while minding my business–it’s so good for the complexion! I also need to practice what I preach and wear SPF every day, especially in the hotter months here in L.A. when the sun does a lot of damage." –Michael Anthony, celebrity makeup artist
"My 2021 beauty resolution is to spend more time on my mental and physical well-being. If there’s anything 2020 taught me, it’s that our skin is a reflection of our mental and physical health, and having an effective skincare ritual is only one piece of the puzzle." –Daniel Martin, Tatcha Global Director of Artistry and Education
"When I work with clients I always spend time prepping their skin with tools–microcurrent, rollers, cryo tools–and I see before my eyes the huge difference it makes on the way their skin looks. I can be lazy about doing this for myself, so my goal is to commit to regularity in my self-care." –Pati Dubroff, Chanel Makeup Artist
"I want to concentrate on a balanced, intuitive diet that will give me proper hydration, and adequate workouts." –Joanna Czech, celebrity facialist
"Take it easy. Sometimes I want to try everything all at once in the pursuit of a goal in skincare that doesn’t exist. No pores, no wrinkles? I’m done chasing that pipe dream. I want comfortable skin–skin that doesn’t burn, itch, or hurt. Treating my face like a giant science experiment is bound to go awry and that happened a few times during quarantine. I’m learning, slowly, that doing less isn’t doing nothing, it’s a conscious decision to edit what I do and don’t need in my life." –Charlotte Palermino, co-founder of Dieux
