Celebrity Facialist Gina Mari Talks Clean Beauty

Proclaimed "Top Celebrity Facialist" in Los Angeles by Allure, Gina Mari has a sharp vision of "in and out" beauty. She incorporates the most prestigious skin solutions such as LED photo-modulation, wet and dry dermabrasion, or even pure oxygen in her personalized skincare programs. The expert became a beauty advisor at Noble Panacea, a luxury skincare line that combines science and beauty. L'OFFICIEL caught up with the facialist for some must-have advice.

L'OFFICIEL: You are a renowned esthetician on the West Coast. Tell us about your journey.

Gina Mari: I have had beautiful skin all my life. Then, in my mid-twenties, I had serious skin problems. I went to see many specialists in Los Angeles and no one ever managed to explain or improve this problem until I met a beautician who promised to give me back the glow of my heyday, subject to trust her completely for six weeks. And she did. This miracle gave me confidence in myself and I had only one idea in mind: to make others feel the same. She then suggested that I go back to school and get my license, and then she made a commitment to give me a job once my career was over—which she did as a woman of her word.

L'O: In your opinion, are clean beauty, science, and technology compatible?

GM: It's obvious—science and technology have always worked together. Adding a clean composition without perfume, parabens, GMOs, or any other toxins only increases their benefits tenfold. As everyone knows, the skin is our largest organ, and everything it absorbs has a direct impact on our health. The good compatibility of these three dimensions is essential for our beauty as much as for our well-being.

L'O: You recently joined the Noble Panacea team as an Expert Facialist Advisor. How did this collaboration come about?

GM: The Noble Panacea team approached me, mostly because all of my practice is based on the synergy between science and technology. I have always been a great admirer and consumer of all these machines or other cutting-edge technological marvels—which go beyond my knowledge as a beautician.

L'O: Why is it important to work for Noble Panacea in particular?

GM: Of all the products I have known for the last 20 years, I have never used one that is as complete and self-sufficient as their The Absolute range. GM: The most important preparatory step before any application is to have clean skin. Depending on your preferences, you can perform a gentle exfoliation or indulge in a natural exfoliation that you like. If you want to take time for yourself, don't hesitate to stimulate your face first, then open your pores with a hot towel. Treat yourself! Then, applying your moisturizer, perform some self-massage—always with a movement which is carried out from bottom to top. We call it effleurage—we kept the word in French here in L.A.

L'O: As an expert, can you reveal your own beauty routine?

GM: The night is very important because it's the crucial moment when the skin regenerates. This is why I take care to prepare it thoroughly before going to bed, paying special attention to it. First of all, you should know that I am a big fan of exfoliation. On a more daily basis, I start off with a creamy cleanser, followed by a tonic, before ending with The Absolute range from Noble Panacea. Without forgetting to carry out the operation on the neck and the bust, of course!

L'O: What is a day like in Gina Mari's skin?

GM: My days have certainly changed a lot in the last year. I had a lot more opportunities to travel. California, and especially Los Angeles where I live, seems to be slowly deconfining. Like the rest of the world, we have to adapt and change the way we operate on a daily basis. I am fortunate to be able to occasionally step out of my new office—which is my home—for activities like surfing or yoga. Outside of work, I take the time to feel good and beautiful through food. As I said, the skin is our largest organ, and we must know how to respect its interior in order to radiate from the outside. Thanks to quarantine, I discovered a passion for gardening, and I developed my own home vegetable garden. I love green vegetables and detox juices, so growing my own ingredients has become an amazing hobby. It's brand new and terribly exciting. More concisely, in 24 hours, my skin balances work, outdoor sports, gardening, and well-deserved meal breaks.
