Molteni&C Kicks Off Salone del Mobile With An Exclusive Experience

As Milan Design Week begins, luxury Italian furniture label Molteni&C introduces an elevated experience to Salone del Mobile. Celebrating almost 90 years of design history, Creative Director Vincent Van Duysen welcomes exclusive guests from artists to socialites to movie directors for the launch of the highly anticipated 2023 collection. 

In the heart of Guissano (home to the Brianza furniture manufacturing district), Van Duysen's 2023 project follows the homely configurations of the ancient Roman Domus. The uncovered courtyard of the Domus is a central element to the both public and private elements of this year's project. Receiving both light and water from this garden area, the communal space is then surrounded by private rooms. Before the privacy of individual spaces and after the public space of the courtyard comes the inner portico. Serving as a place for leisure and relaxation, this in-between space bounds the garden with the domesticity of the house. 

Roberto Ruspoli's painting "Virgilio's Dream" is the main set throughout Molteni&C's event. The painting is used as the backdrop for fashion photographer Amina Marazzi Gandolfi's portraits of the inspiring guests. In combination with 'Virgilio's Dream,' both the Mateo table by Vincent Van Duysen and Naoto Fukasawa's Tuscany chaise longue are featured in the portraiture area. Filo Vals and his band set the tone with their live performance. 

The event invites guests to discover the label's factory to take a look behind-the-scenes at its 2023 advertising campaign. Further, there is a photographic studio (where much of the new campaign was shot) where guests will have their pictures taken along with pieces from the new collection. The entirety of the Molteni Home emphasizes the connection between indoor and outdoor, private and public, and intimate and shared from the living room to the dining room and from the kitchen to the night area.
