This is just in: Phoebe Philo is said to be resigning from her position at Céline, according to a news report by Business of Fashion.
Quoting anonymous sources who work for the LVMH Group, which owns the Céline brand, Business of Fashion reports that LVMH Group is now in the process of interviewing designers and is also looking to replace the design team, too.
One of the source says, "The interviews have been going on for a few months now."
While the spokesperson for LVMH "deny any imminent departure of Phoebe Philo from Céline", they did not deny that interviews are taking place to find a replacement for the creative director position.
This is not the first time where Phoebe was rumored to be leaving the fashion house–the first came in late 2015 and another came in early 2016, which led many to believe that Fall/Winter 2016 was her last collection for Céline.
However looking at the rapid changes of the brand right now including the launch of its Instagram account earlier this year, it might not be that surprising that LVMH is looking for a fresher and more digitally-skewed approach for the brand.
After all, Céline under the helm of Phoebe Philo has shied away from the digital front for a long time until 2017. Alas, all we can do right now is wait patiently to see if the rumor will turn into reality.
